Dry Needling
Monday, April 3, 2017
Robert Dyer, PT, DPT, OCS, WCC recently passed the certification test to perform Functional Dry Needling. Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying trigger points, muscular and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
With this technique a dry needle, without medication, is inserted into a trigger point with the goal of releasing/inactivating the trigger points.
Jessica Botts PT, DPT and Emily Young PT, DPT have been successfully utilizing dry needling to treat patients for the past 2 years. Having three staff members trained in this technique is yet another example of how Cozad Community Physical Therapy is leading the way in patient care in our health care community. Dyer is pleased with support the staff has been given. “The administration and hospital board have been very supportive in the professional development of our staff. They continue to demonstrate a commitment to excellence which is evident in the high quality care we are able to provide.”
